Thankful....

I think I shall wear this on Thanksgiving.  It kinda screams "pass the sweet potatoes!!" doesn't it? This was one of my last years Christmas gifts from the hubs and I only wore it a handful of times last season.  Needless to say I'm Thankful this trend is staying strong cause who doesn't love a little bit of fur now and then =)

Rocket ships and ferry rides....

Now I am kicking myself for not branching out of our stoop to take pictures!! Hence the rocket ship artwork in the background =) This was also the first time we took the new ferry from Brooklyn to the city and it was the perfect day to do so.  It's always fun having family in town because I get to feel like a tourist all over again while eating constantly....I can justify my two burgers in two days because of all the walking right???

A dear, a collared shirt and a wedding...

 

When ever I wear a collared shirt under a sweater I all of a sudden feel like I belong in a private all girls school.  In this case, a cowgirl, private all girls school.  Lately things have been coming together in my closet that even I don't really understand.  It's all about your confidence when pulling an outfit off.  Never let those words come out of your mouth "I could never pull that off" cause all you have to do is DO IT and then I promise you will inspire yourself to try even more new things =) Maybe I should change this post to "Pep talk Friday".  Have a great weekend!!!

Tis the Season with a homemade haircut...

 

Not until after I was editing these pictures did I start to feel like Santa's little helper wearing this outfit....and I kinda love it!  I also realized the back of my hair was a complete mess (I spared those photo's for you) which led me to cut my own hair.  So the next photo you see of me I just may have a bag over my head.  Oh the joy of having a bazillion photos taken so you can critique every little part of yourself.

Sorry for such a late post.  I must admit that later posts really work for me.  I tend to be very slow moving in the morning so don't be surprised if this is the first of many 5pm posts. We got SNOW this weekend which I am the least bit excited about.  The one thing I realized about living in New York is that Fall is the best time here and it also seems to be the shortest =( I really wasn't expecting to be here through another winter.  Hoping we are cozy in Oregon before it get's really bad here. We spent most of our afternoon scrambling for Halloween costumes.  I think this has become a tradition for us....that and getting out of bed at 10am =) What are your plans for Halloween???

The little poncho that could...

 So here's the deal, I'm a complete copycat on this one and I'm not ashamed!! I first saw this lovely poncho on the Daybook and from then on I was on a mission to find it.  I seriously walked from every H&M in Manhattan with the photo loaded on my iPhone.  I felt like a woman who lost her kitten..."Have you scene this? Are you sure? I have a photo " Yes, I went a bit craaazzy hunting for this (especially after walking 40+ blocks) and still having no luck.  The crazy in me turned desperate and I called friends back home, begging for them to join me on this hunt. Enter, my dear friend Amby from Seattle who was up for the challenge and needless to say succeeded with flying colors. All while having a newborn in tow.  I'm the luckiest girl with a pretty poncho all the way from Seattle and a friend I don't deserve =) The things we do for style....or the things I do (I won't lump you into my craaazzy).

The jumper after a meltdown...

 

I had a bit of a meltdown in front of the mirror yesterday accompanied by the feelings of I have nothing to wear and swearing I see little wrinkles around my eyes. I then threw on this little jumper that makes me feel like a 5th grader on her first day of school and all was well.

The 5 dollar dress...

I know what's running through your mind..."that ain't no dress!!" Let me explain before you run off to another blog =) This last weekend we had our good friends/business partners in town Ryan and Susan.  The boys were sweet enough to let Sus and I stroll along 5th Ave. and get some shopping done, but I was having no luck what so ever!! Why is it that when you have money to spend you can't find anything you want?!! Anywho, the boys started getting antsy like all little boys do and Sus showed me this 5 dollar dress she was buying...I decided, what the heck I'll splurge without trying it on (always a big mistake for me).  Of course I get home, try it on and the bust is a little too snug (SHOCKER!!) I then realized with how this dress was cut I could simply fold the top under and I have a snazzy floral skirt!!  Instead of spending the 5 dollars on a train ride back into the city I figure this is still a heck of a deal for a "skinny day" dress and skirt.

Not so mellow yellow...

I'm quite obsessed with silky blouses this season, this one practically jumped off the hanger and into my hands.  I'm the type of girl that goes to Anthro and buys a new dish or a set of tea towels with the dream of someday being able to afford a top from them.  I splurged on this little lady in the clearance section =)
P.S. Isn't it great when you totally match your nail polish to what you are wearing on ACCIDENT?!?

Breaking out of the stoop...

  This is the first post where hubs and I didn't argue one bit while taking pics!! Aren't you proud?? I am! Normally it goes a bit like this....

Hubs: "Brittany, you need to lighten up, you look all tense"

Me: "Well I need you to direct me or something"

Hubs: "I don't know what I'm doing"

Me: "fine I'll just grab a tripod next time"

Then he does something stupid and makes me laugh and the pics turn out golden =) Oh I love you my goofy talented husband!!!

Foxy Layers....

I don't think a girl can own too many pairs of leggings and over sized shirts!! Definitely a "go to" outfit for me on an overcast fall day in the BK.....the perfect comfy outfit you can rely on when all you want to do is stay in your pjs all day =) This particular outfit makes me want to sip on a Pumpkin Latte stat!!!
