5 of my faves Tuesdays!!!

It's kind of funny to me how I'm not working but yet I feel as if I have less time for some reason. For example, doing a blog post at 8pm instead of am.  I have been tackling some little projects so that has made me very happy =) And I got my hair done today so I am extra happy!! I hope these 5 things will make your Tuesday night divine...

Movie Madness Monday! Well, kinda =)

We did our first wedding of the season on Friday and it went so well!! I'm getting pumped about being a bigger part of our team. I'm actually working on a little edit of my own which has been really fun learning something completely new...definitely not "Ryan Quality" in my opinion =) but I will for sure share it with you guys soon! I thought I'd share a little sneak peek of the wedding we shot on Friday...more of Lisa and Matt's trailer to come soon =)

Next Monday I will share some movies I've seen recently....kinda sad cause I wasn't too thrilled with most of them..Happy Monday night all, peace out!!

Oh Baby!!!

Sorry for not keeping up on this genre.  It is not the lack of being inspired in this area, trust me!! Lately I've fallen in love with natural wood in nurseries and subtle pops of color, or simply no color at all.  I'm still in love with gray on the walls and I love this little nursery....

I adore the name too  =)

I love the idea of bringing things that you love into the nursery as well....

Like putting some antique vases on a shelf...making the nursery a place for you to enjoy in addition to your bundle of joy. You can buy these bud vases here!!

Here is some of the natural stuff I'm loving...

This is actually a little teething toy...I heart Oregon!!!

I love this idea seen in Domestic Simplicity.  Ikea spice racks for under $3 used as a bookshelf!! Great for small spaces =)

Oh to be planning a nursery....

Cha Cha Cha Changes!!!

This last week was pretty crazy!! First of all, a week from this last Monday I began the raw food diet!! And boy oh boy it has been great and surprisingly easier than I thought...trust me when I tell you I am a person that isn't very good when it comes to self control. Let's just say I enjoy my ice cream, cheese and meat.
I had mentioned that I was inspired by a blogger friend Jamie who recently went raw and had great things to say about it. I figured "what the heck" swimsuit season is just around the corner and I could use a few more vegetables in my diet.  At first I thought this probably won't last past a day, but I'm on week 2 and down 5 pounds and feeling great.  I eat a salad for lunch everyday with loads of veggies and some balsamic and oil. For breakfast I either juice a bunch of veggies and a little fruit or I have some walnuts with coconut and almond milk (which is so yummy).  Dinners seem a little rougher.  I have juiced a couple nights or I lightly grill (isn't technically allowed) some veggies in garlic.  I have been cheating in the sense where I have had sushi that has some cooked rice, but I'm allowing myself that because I know I am still putting great things in my body.
I am beyond proud that I have stuck to it and it is so exciting seeing results in my skin, energy and waistline!! I don't have that bloated feeling from eating meat, dairy, sugar and bread. I will definitely keep you posted on how this goes and how long it lasts =)

So that was big CHANGE number 1!!!

The 2nd huge change is I quit working at the salon!!! Ryan has been offering me to get more involved in our growing company Vivid Wedding Films. This last summer I was able to take some weekends off to help shoot weddings with him, but Weddings always seemed to conflict with salon hours being that they are on weekends when it's busiest at the salon.  My work at the salon had been very up and down emotionally from day 1.  Things would be great one day and the next it was a complete 180.  It would get to a point where I was getting very anxious in the mornings before work and not feeling like I could force myself to go. It's such a horrible feeling =(  The hardest thing is saying goodbye to the relationships that I have built but I know in the long run I would rather invest in the business Ryan and I are trying to grow.  It is such a weird feeling not going into a salon everyday.  It has been the only work that I have known for six years but I am looking at this as a little hiatus to focus on some other passions I have.  Not only the work with Vivid but also my paintings and random works of art I love to do.  My goal is to get my etsy shop up and going in the next month or two =)

The 3rd huge change hasn't come quite yet, but we are planning on moving back to the west coast in January!!!!  It came as a shock to me as well =) We are doing so many destination weddings this summer and fall that we feel it is a great time to move where we ideally want to settle and have a family (not New York).  I am beyond excited to be back in Oregon where our family is and to be around all our nieces and nephews.  I'm really excited to live in Portland as well and hopefully find a salon to work at a few days a week and continue to be a part of weddings.
If you have made it through this long blog...congratulations!!!! I feel I need to post something pretty as your reward =)
I love this random plate placement =)

Have a great day all!!! Guess what?? There is snow on the ground here =( Not too happy about that!! Check in a little later for an Oh Baby post (I have slacked I know).

How to live in New York City

This article is from thoughtcatalog.com and it's scary how true it is.  Thought I should share some of what New York living is all about =)

Move here when you’re 18 or 22, maybe even 24. Come from somewhere else-the north, south, west, Xanadu- and come to realize that everyone living in New York is a transplant. Even the ones who grew up on the Upper East Side end up moving into a place downtown, which, as you’ll soon discover, is like moving to a different city.
Discover the cruel and bizarre world of New York City real estate. End up spending an obscene amount of money on something called a broker’s fee, first and last month’s rent and a security deposit. Cry a little bit in the leasing office but remind yourself that you’re so happy to be here.
Picture hearing a man playing the saxophone outside your bedroom window. End up hearing a lot of sirens instead. Figure it’s okay because it’s New York and you’re still so happy to be here.
Go out to bars in the Lower East Side because the Internet told you so. Fall in love with a bar called, Max Fish, and always stay out till four in the morning. Eat a falafel and have someone pay for a cab back to your apartment. Watch the sun start to rise while going over the Williamsburg Bridge and feel like your life is becoming some kind of movie.
Eat bad pizza but trick yourself into believing it’s good because it’s made in New York. Do the same thing with bagels.
Meet people who will be your best friends for three or four months. They’ll help you transition into city life and take you to weird bars in Murray Hill. It will be like the blind leading the blind but once you get a firm grasp on things, you can stop returning their phone calls.
Watch your life in New York go through phases. Spend a summer in Fort Greene with a lover and get to know the neighborhood and its rhythms. Once the fling ends, forget the blocks, parks and restaurants ever existed and don’t return unless you have to.
Encounter a lot of people crying in public. Watch an NYU student cry in Think Coffee, a business woman in midtown sob into her cellphone, an old man whimper on a stoop in Greenpoint. At first, it will feel very jarring but, like everything else, it will become normal. Have your first public cry in front of a Bank of America. Cry so hard and don’t care if people are watching you. You pay good money to be able to cry in public.
Work long hours at a thankless job. Always be one step away from financial destitution. Marvel at how expensive New York is, how when you walk out the door, $20.00 immediately gets deleted from your wallet. Understand that even though no one has any money, everyone is privileged to live in New York City.
Go home for the holdays and run into old friends from high school. When you tell them that you live in New York, watch their eyes widen. They’ll say, “Oh my god, New York? That’s so crazy. I’m so jealous!” Have a blasé attitude about it but deep down inside, know they have good reason to be jealous.
Go home and feel relieved to be away from the energy of the city, that punishing 4:00 a.m. last call. Spend the first two days eating and sleeping, getting back to normal. Spend the last two days feeling anxious and ready to get back to your real home. Realize this city has you by the balls and isn’t going to let you go.
Someday you might grow tired of it all though. You might start crying in public more often than you’d like, have a bad break-up and want to pack it all up.
Certain moments of living in the city will always stick out to you. Buying plums from a fruit vendor on 34th street and eating three of them on a long walk, the day you spent in bed with your best friend watching Tyra Banks, the amazing rooftop party you attended on a sweltering hot day in July. These memories might seem insignificant but they were all moments when you looked around the city and felt like you were a part of it all.
When you leave the city, you probably won’t come back. Eventually your life in New York will seem so far away and sometimes you’ll even wonder if it really happened. Don’t worry. It did.

Movie Madness Monday!

I am a movie freak...and it's something that Ryan accepts and helps feed my addiction to =) I am the type of person (if there is a type) that can go see movies as many as six times at a theater (Titanic) and also own certain movies and never ever get sick of them.  I only get sick of certain parts of them so I often will put a movie in that I own and fast forward to my favorite parts.  The more I'm sharing about this the more I feel a little like a crazy person, but the facts are true.
When I was a little girl my Grandma introduced me to Steal Magnolias and I remember sitting on her shag rug carpet watching the movie over and over again. It was VHS so I would watch and rewind, watch and rewind.  Who knows, maybe Truvy in Steal Magnolias is the reason I wanted to become a hair dresser.
The trend didn't stop there. When I was in high school Ace Ventura came out and I did the same exact thing.  I skipped out on going to the lake during the summer to sit inside and watch it over and over again.  You can ask my husband, I can quote the whole movie....no joke!!!
So the other day when I was asking for chick flick recommendations it got me thinking...how fun would it be to do a movie post every week of a movie I love or a clip from one.  By the way, thank you for your recommendations!! I have to admit...I already saw all of them =) I'm a freak I tell you!!
Last night I watched Country Strong. I loved it!!! I'm not a huge country fan by any means but this movie I really enjoyed....I watched it again today =) Here is a clip I loved!! Go see it and give me your thoughts =)
